Karachi court acquits Hassaan Niazi in sedition case

Hassaan Niazi, the nephew of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, was acquitted on Wednesday from a charge of inciting people to rebel against national institutions.

A charge against Niazi was filed by the District East Police in Karachi (East) after a resident Muhammad Iqbal filed a complaint with the Jamshaid Quarters police station.

Hassaan Niazi was exonerated of the sedition accusation after the court heard arguments and granted release orders.

He was taken into custody by the Karachi police on Tuesday after the Sindh police received a two-day transit remand from an anti-terrorism court.

The FIR claimed that Hassaan Niazi sought to stir up unrest in a social media video by inciting people to rebel against national institutions. According to the FIR, the comment had caused resentment and anguish among the populace.

It is crucial to note that Barrister Hassaan was first detained by Islamabad police outside the courthouse despite having received bail.

After that, Niazi was sent to Quetta, where a complaint had been filed against him for instigating violence and meddling in political matters.
