Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) projected on Sunday that Sindh, including Karachi, will see an additional rain spell beginning on Tuesday, August 16, as another “low-pressure area” was expected to hit the province soon.

As a result of the new weather system, rain and thunderstorms with moderate to heavy falls were predicted to begin on August 16 in the districts of Shaheed Benazirabad, Noshero Feroz, Khairpur, Sukkur, Larkana, Ghotki, Kashmore, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Dadu, Jamshoro, Kambar Shahdadkot, Tharparker, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin, and Tando Muhammad khan.

Karachi is also expected to have moderate to heavy rains during the specified time.

The PMD predicted that the rains will become heavy and widespread throughout the aforementioned districts for the following three to four days.

The Met Office has issued a warning that between Tuesday and Thursday, heavy rains might cause water logging in low-lying regions of Karachi, Badin, Thatta, Sujawal, Tando Muhammad khan, Tando Allayar, Dadu, Jamshoro, and Kambar Shahdadkot districts.

The PMD, in reference to the meteorological system producing showers in portions of Sindh and Balochistan, said, “Depression over North Arabian Sea has diminished into a low-pressure region and presently rests over Rajasthan.”
