Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control (LOC) and the world over observe black day on India’s 75th Independence Day as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India has aimed at becoming a developed nation in the next 25 years.

Indian PM has stated in his official statement on the eve of their Independence Day that policies supporting domestic production in power, defence and digital technology would help India become a developed nation.

Speaking at Red Fort Delhi he stressed upon the youth to aim big and give their best years for the cause of the country. He said that Indians should shed hundreds of years of colonialism in their minds and habits because it had restricted their sentiments and distorted thoughts.

Indian PM wearing the traditional turban with colours of the Indian flag said that India should follow an India-first mantra, crushing the termite of corruption and nepotism and avoid the things that lower a woman’s dignity.

The World Bank has put India as a lower-middle income economy with per capita income between $1,086 and $4,255. India at present is the world’s sixth economy. Experts have said that by 2050 India could become the world’s third-largest economy after the United States of America and China although its per capita income may remain low compared with many countries.

On the other side, Kashmiris on both sides of LOC and across the world have celebrated the Indian Independence Day as a black day in protest of the illegal occupation of their homeland.

A complete shutdown and civil curfew have been enforced in the valley of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) after the All Parties Hurriyat Conference called for it. The call has been supported by all Hurriyat leaders including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Shabbir Ahmad Shah and Kashmiri organizations.

Black flags have been hoisted in the whole valley whereas in order to draw the attention of the world towards Indian brutality in the occupied territory anti-India demonstrations have been held across the world by Kashmiris.
