Khabib Nurmagomedov shares his ‘MMA GOAT’ list

Former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has offered his opinion on the GOAT discussion.

Since his submission victory over Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 in October 2020, “The Eagle” has not competed. The victory was followed by the then-lightweight champion standing in the middle of the ring and declaring his retirement. Khabib retires undefeated in his MMA career with an astonishing record of 29-0.

To his credit, Nurmagomedov hasn’t expressed any desire in resuming his fighting career and has maintained his resolve to not pick up the gloves.

Fans and experts questioned the Russian’s rank among the all-time greats after his retirement, which was understandable. Almost every major fighter that quits these days is discussed as a potential GOAT.

Khabib Nurmagomedov does not place himself on the list of all-time great fighters, even though many people think he is one of them. Nevertheless, the Russian just shared his ranking of the top 15 performers of all time on Twitter.

He declared former PRIDE heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko and current UFC champion Jon Jones as the best to ever do it.

The former UFC lightweight champion added Demetrious Johnson, Anderson Silva, and Georges St-Pierre to the list after that. Daniel Cormier, a longtime friend, and teammate of Nurmagomedov came in at number five.

Henry Cejudo, Jose Aldo, and Kamaru Usman, all previous UFC champions made it to the top ten. Israel Adesanya, who is one of the few still competing champions, is ranked ninth.
