Mahmood Khan approves digital skills training programme for youth

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Wednesday launched the chief minister’s business complaint cell intending to facilitate businessmen and investors to the maximum.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan formally launched the portal in a ceremony held in Peshawar. Besides Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain and provincial cabinet members Atif Khan and Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, the event was attended by Principal Secretary to CM Amjid Ali Khan, secretary information, secretary ST&IT, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board managing director and other concerned officials.

Businessmen and investors can register their online complaints related to any government department on the portal. Such complaints would be forwarded to the concerned departments and entities for quick redressal.

The chief minister’s business complaint portal will be a dedicated online avenue for the businessmen to register their complaints which will be directly followed up by the chief minister’s secretariat.

Speaking on this occasion, the chief minister reiterated his government’s resolve to facilitate the business community and investors, saying that the government was taking all possible steps to extend maximum facilitation to the business community and ensure a conducive environment for business activities in the province. Mahmood Khan said the provincial government had already launched the one-window business portal to facilitate the business community and other private sector investors.

Meanwhile, the chief minister also launched the revamped official web portal of the provincial government. The revamped portal offers up to date information on various aspects of the government.

Earlier in the day, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government approved the launch of a digital skills training programme.

The programme was approved by Mahmood Khan in a meeting of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board.

Briefing the meeting on various aspects of the programme, it was informed that it would cost a total of Rs5 billion.

It was further informed that through the digital skills programme, digital skills training would be imparted to the youth in various fields of information and communication technology as per the requirements of local and international markets.

The meeting was informed that a skilled workforce would be created through digital skills courses which would enable them to find employment at home.

The programme will have three phases: the first of which is intermediate level digital skills, under which 60,000 youth will be trained. The second phase is advanced level digital skills, under which 20,000 youth will be trained while the third phase is nano degree, under which the remaining youth will be trained.

Intermediate-level digital skills will be taught in web development, graphic designing, animation, digital marketing, and e-commerce, while advanced levels will include training in blockchain, data engineering, artificial intelligence, computer networking, cyber security, business intelligence, and cloud computing.

Briefing the participants regarding the youth employment programme, it was informed that 13,700 youths have been trained under the medium level digital skills of which 29 percent were women and 71 percent were men. Similarly, more than 1,600 youths have been trained under advanced digital skills, of which 15 percent were women and 85 percent were men.

Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said that providing digital training to the youth and making them employable is one of the priorities of the present government.
