The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet approved a plan on Tuesday to grant legal professionals in the province permits to possess weapons with restricted bores.

An official statement states that Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, who presided over the cabinet meeting, gave instructions to the relevant parties to create a system for the issue of those licenses to regular citizens as well.

The cabinet also decided to restrict the burning of used tires for industrial purposes in the province for a year to reduce environmental pollution.

The Anti-Rape (Investigation & Trial) Act of 2021, also authorized the creation of three new tehsils, including Talashin Lower Dir district, Utmankhel in Malakand district, and Tanawal in Mansehra district, as well as the creation of a special unit for the investigation of sex crimes in all districts.

During the meeting, approval was also given to the KP Mineral Auction Rules, 2022, a “digital literacy” training program for cabinet members to promote e-governance and paperless working in government offices, and an extension of the tenure of 80 muawin qazis in the Malakand division by Paragraph VI of the Sharia Nizam Adal Regulations.

The Provincial Housing Authority Service Regulations, 2022 will replace the 2010 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Housing Authority Service Rules, which the government has approved to be repealed.
