PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Finance Minister Muzammil Aslam has criticized the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) for highlighting its role in the 18th Amendment while remaining silent on the issue of the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award.

Speaking during a session of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Wednesday, Aslam said that provinces have the right over their own resources. He stressed that any wealth generated from a province should primarily benefit that province.

He stated that if the federal government releases Rs90 billion to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, it would provide significant relief and support development in the province. He also mentioned that the windfall levy case is still pending before the High Court.

According to the provincial government’s estimates, the federal government owes around Rs80 billion to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in unpaid windfall levies. The minister urged that the matter be resolved to ensure the province receives its due share.
