The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Lahore has declared that the market’s opening hours have been increased by one hour. Currently, all markets—including malls, bakeries, and candy shops—are open until 11 p.m. The previous closure time was 10:00 PM.
Additionally, this extension also applies to places like hotels, cafes, and restaurants, enabling them to stay open and serve people until the new closing time.
It is important to note that some basic services, such as pharmacies, gas stations, and dairy stores, are not constrained by these hours and may continue to operate after those times.
The then-federal government had announced intentions to shut down marketplaces at 8 PM as part of an effort to conserve energy last month, but traders objected, saying it would hurt their businesses.
