Last prince of Swat buried

Funeral prayers of Prince Miangal Adnan Aurangzeb, the last official prince of Swat, were offered and he was buried in his ancestral graveyard in Saidu Sharif on Tuesday.

A large number of people including political and social personalities attended the funeral prayers. Adnan Aurangzeb was killed in a traffic accident on Monday. He is the grandson of Ruler of Swat Mian Gul Abdul Haq Jahanzeb, grandson of Field Marshal Muhammad Ayub Khan, son of former governor of Baluchistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mian Gul Aurangzeb, brother of Justice Hassan Aurangzeb and Dr. Mahmood Aurangzeb while former federal minister Omar Ayub, former provincial ministers Yousuf Ayub and Akbar Ayub and the current provincial minister Arshad Ayub were his cousins.

Miangul Adnan Aurangzeb was a Pakistani engineer, a member of the National Assembly, and was head of the former princely family that once ruled the Swat princely state. According to the Royal family of Swat, he studied at the primary level within the Sangota Public School system in Sangota, Swat. He graduated on the secondary level from Aitchison College, an elite Pakistani secondary school.

Adnan Aurangzeb was a professional electrical engineer who studied in the United States at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. He has served in the Pakistani parliament as a member in 1997. He was also consulting energy engineer for project management and government relations.

The late prince was also a volunteer spokesperson for Project Miracles, an initiative to recover and recycle plastic waste from the Indus Valley.
