Late Naila Jaffri’s last drama serial to release posthumously this year

Veteran Pakistani actress Naila Jaffri’s last drama serial is all set to release this year on PTV home. The channel dropped the teaser a few days back, interestingly showing Naila Jaffri the way she was during the last days of her cancer-smitten life – having lost her hair.

The name of the serial has not been announced as yet, but from the trailer released, it promises to be a powerful story of a locality ruled by feudal families where their eccentric punishments are also exercised. Saman Ansari, Nadia Afgan and Mohsin Gillani also make it to the teaser as performing significant characters, with Mohsin Gillani seemingly having taken up the role of Naila Jaffri’s father, while Naila Jaffri plays a woman alienated by the society.

The trailer shared by the channel carries the caption “In memory of late Naila Jaffry” and has melted the hearts of many of Jaffri’s fans, who is known for being one of the most elegant performers of Pakistan. The actress left for her heavenly abode in 2021 after battling ovarian cancer for quite a long time. Before meeting her death, she is also known for having spoken for the rights of Pakistani actors, saying that they should be given royalties for the re-telecast of their drama serials. She was inclined to say this after years of suffering from cancer without any aid from the government or the showbiz fraternity.
