The Rawalpindi bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday declared the house arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shehryar Khan Afridi, his brother Farrukh Afridi, women leaders Nadia Hussain and Shah Jahan illegal.

Justice Anwarul Haq Pannu of the Rawalpindi bench of the High Court, while hearing the petitions, termed the deputy commissioner’s order of 15-day detention of the four leaders as illegal and unconstitutional and said that the court would not allow anyone to take illegal and unconstitutional action.

The court also granted protective bail to Shehryar Khan Afridi in the wheat theft case in Bahawalpur police station and ordered his immediate release. The court also rejected the stand of the Deputy Commissioner and the CPO to disturb law and order regarding their detention.
