LHC seeks arguments from Ali Zafar’s lawyers in case against Meesha Shafi

Actress’s lawyer says FIA lodged case against her without hearing her view

The Lahore High Court on Wednesday directed the counsel of renowned singer Ali Zafar to come up with arguments on a petition filed by singer and actress Meesha Shafi challenging registration of case against her as well as the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) inquiry.

The case was heard by Justice Tariq Saleem Sheik. During the hearing, Advocate Hina Jilani said that the FIA booked her client which was against the law and submitted that no evidence was found against the actress, even on Twitter.

She argued that a case of harassment was lodged by singer Ali Zafar against Meesha despite the fact that she had already moved a defamation suit against Zafar.

She said that the case was lodged against the actress to cast influence over the already sub judice case before the sessions court.

She added that the case was lodged by the agency without hearing the view of the petitioner.

Moreover, the counsel requested the court to order the FIA to dismiss the case against Meesha and other suspects.

After hearing arguments of the petitioner’s counsel, Justice Sheik sought arguments from the lawyers of Ali Zafar and put off further hearing till Thursday.
