Dhaka – Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das has accused Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Rizwan of avoiding the traditional post-match handshake after both matches of the recent Test series between Pakistan and Bangladesh describing the behaviour as unprofessional.

It is worth noting that tension between the two players first became apparent during the second Test match in Sylhet. In the 72nd over of Pakistan’s innings, Mohammad Rizwan objected to movement near the sight screen. Litton Das questioned the delay caused by the objection leading to a heated exchange between the two players. However, umpire Richard Kettleborough intervened and brought the situation under control.

Speaking at an event organized by a Bangladeshi media outlet, Litton Das said that regardless of what happens during a match, players should show respect to one another after the game ends.

Litton Das stated, “After our victory in the first Test, Rizwan did not come to shake hands with us. This was not the right attitude. No matter how great a player you are, respect is more important than winning or losing.”

He added that even if Rizwan had a personal issue with him refusing to shake hands with the entire Bangladesh team went against the spirit of respect and sportsmanship. “Perhaps he had a problem with me but the entire Bangladesh team had done nothing to him,” Das said.

Despite his criticism, Litton Das also acknowledged the batting abilities of Mohammad Rizwan and former Pakistan captain Babar Azam. He said, “I knew that Babar Azam and Rizwan were the two batters most capable of causing us problems. Rizwan has a very strong record against Bangladesh and that was on my mind throughout the series.”

Das further revealed that the Bangladesh team had adopted a special strategy specifically to counter Rizwan during the series. As of now, neither Mohammad Rizwan nor the Pakistan team management has issued any response to Litton Das’s allegations.
