Lucky draw for subsidized agricultural tools

The Department of Agriculture (Extension) Lodhran organized a lottery of agricultural implements in connection with the National Plan 2021-22 to increase the production of oilseeds under the prime minister’s Agricultural Emergency Programme.

Syeda Amna Maududi, Deputy Director Agriculture (Extension), Muhammad Zafar Malik and other committee members were present on the occasion. A total of 22 farmers applied for the scheme out of which seven were selected for the lottery after initial scrutiny while the lottery was drawn in the presence of the petitioning farmers.

Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Commissioner Lodhran Syeda Amna Maududi said that the government was taking steps to modernize agriculture and improve the present situation of agricultural commodities.

Maududi said that farmers can increase crop production by making use of modern technology. He further said that Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar was working hard for the progress of agriculture. Deputy Director Agriculture (Extension) Muhammad Zafar Malik said that three small seeded drills and two small seeded threshers had been provided to the farmers of Lodhran District.

He further said that agricultural implements and machinery were being provided to the lucky farmers and cultivators at a 50 percent discount. He said that farmers can increase the production of oilseeds by adopting mechanized farming.
