Mahira Khan’s ‘Aik Hai Nigar’ bags Best Asian Film award at Septimius Awards

Pakistani short-length film ‘Aik Hai Nigar’ which was made for the medium of television initially and was based on the life of Pakistan’s first Lieutenant General Nigar Johar Khan has won the Best Asian Film award at the Septimius Awards held in Netherlands.

Released in 2021, the film was produced by Mahira Khan in collaboration with Nina Kashif, and was scripted by Umera Ahmed, with Mahira herself essaying the titular role opposite Bilal Ashraf who played her supportive husband.

In Netherlands, the award ceremony catering to independent filmmakers from all over the world was attended by the film’s co-producer Nina Kashif who received the award on behalf of the entire team.

In Pakistan, the film was appreciated by the majority and disliked by only a few who had ideological clashes with the narrative. The direction and performances, however, were equally admired by all.
