Mardan bomb attack kills police officer, wounds four

A bomb-attack at a police station in Mardan killed station in-charge Maqsood Chawoki and wounded four others, including two cops.

According to reports, the attack took place at Chamtar police station situated on Nisata road at around 11:20am.

Mardan district police has confirmed the casualties. Rescue and medical teams completed operations after arriving at the scene.

Police and security forces cordoned off the area and a search operation was carried out for suspicious people.

A day earlier on Wednesday, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah had told about the formation of a committee for negotiations with Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). According to reports, the military leadership in the Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS) had briefed the lawmakers that Pakistan was compelled to seek a peace deal with TTP as it was feared that TTP might join with Da’ish Khorasan.
