Maryam Nawaz has something to say about veteran actress Iffat Omar

Unlike majority of the Pakistani celebrities, Iffat Omar has different political leanings. While most of the actors side with former prime minister Imran Khan, Iffat Omar supports Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz. The valiant actress, who never shies away from voicing her social and political ideologies, openly criticizes Khan and his policies and now that the PML-N is leading a coalition government, she expresses her liking for them in the same, unapologetic manner.

Interestingly, Omar recently received a response from Maryam Nawaz Sharif when the actress made a tweet which said that Maryam Nawaz Sharif was “indeed a crowd puller”, to which the political leader responded by saying, “Aap bhi crowd puller hain” (You too are a crowd puller).

The statement by Maryam Nawaz instantly made it across the internet, with multiple entertainment agencies also tagging Iffat Omar to tell her that a political figure as famous as Maryam Nawaz had something good to say about one of the finest actresses of Pakistan.

Iffat Omar, who started her career with modeling in the 90s, went on to become one of the most popular actresses of Pakistan, working in dramas the likes of ‘Bano Qudsia’ as well. Warmly embracing her age bracket, Omar has recently started taking up roles of mothers, alongside which she also hosts a celebrity talk-show on web.

For the youngsters, Iffat Omar became a household name when she strongly reacted to Khalil-ur-Rehman’s anti-feminist statements following the backlash on his 2019 serial ‘Mere Pass Tum Ho’, emerging as one of the leading feminist voices of Pakistan not ready to succumb to societal stereotypes.
