Mass vaccination centers: Over 300 workers not paid 11 months salaries

Staff claims Sindh government failed to make payments despite several protests and assurances

Hundreds of staff members of mass vaccination centers in Sindh for Coronavirus vaccines have not been paid their salaries for more than 11 months.

The staff members claimed that the Sindh government had failed to make the payment of the dues despite several protests and assurances on the part of the government.

A number of data entry operators and other people, who served at mass vaccination centers have not been paid for more than a year, said a volunteer working at Expo Center Karachi on the condition of anonymity.

We were promised Rs17,000 monthly salary, he told Minute Mirror adding that the government owed Rs187,000 in total for 11 month salaries to each of these members who had not received this amount so far.

However, an official of Sindh Health Department told Minute Mirror that it was correct to say that the members had not been paid. He confirmed off the record that around 300 such members had not been paid. Efforts were underway to make these payments as early as possible, he added.

The Sindh government had established a mass vaccination center at Expo Centre Karachi to give vaccine jabs against the Coronavirus to the people. Some other mass vaccination centers were also established in other parts of the province. Realizing that the centers did not yield the desired results, they were shut down a few weeks ago.
