Mastung radar services halted until August 8

The radar services at Lak Pass in Mastung have been temporarily suspended as part of operational arrangements by the aviation authorities.

According to a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued by the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA), the suspension will remain in effect from July 13 to August 8, 2026.

During this period, radar surveillance will not be available within a 250-nautical-mile area covered by the Lak Pass radar facility. The temporary suspension may affect normal radar-based monitoring in the designated airspace.

However, authorities said alternative arrangements have been made to ensure that flight operations continue without disruption. Air traffic control services will be managed through the Lahore and Karachi control centres using available surveillance systems.

The PAA said air traffic controllers will continue monitoring flights and providing necessary guidance to aircraft operating in the affected airspace.

The aviation authority added that whenever required, non-radar procedures will be used to manage air traffic safely during the suspension period. These procedures will allow controllers to maintain communication with aircraft and ensure the smooth movement of flights.

Officials said the temporary measures are aimed at maintaining aviation safety and preventing any disruption to domestic and international flight operations. Airlines and pilots have been informed about the changes through the official NOTAM system.
