May 9 incidents: IHC grants bail to Asad Umar, Shah Mehmood Qureshi

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has granted interim bail to Asad Umar and Shah Mehmood Qureshi in a case lodged at Tarnol police station in connection with the incidents related to May 9.

Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir heard the bail plea. The court granted bail against a bond of Rs100,000 each.

The High Court has restrained the police from arresting Asad Umar and Shah Mehmood Qureshi and sought records from the police by July 10.

It may be recalled that the Sessions Court had rejected the bail of Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Asad Umar three days ago.

Asad Umar and Shah Mehmood Qureshi had left the court premises in a hurry, a video of which had gone viral.

Yesterday, both politicians tried to reach the court to get bail but could not reach the court premises because the police had placed blockades. It was told by the lawyer in the court. After which the court had adjourned the hearing till today, directing Asad Umar and Shah Mehmood Qureshi to appear for bail.
