Met office forecasts heavy rainfalls, warns of urban flooding in all major cities

Monsoon rains have been forecasted in Islamabad, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and northern Punjab from June 30 till July 4.

For Sindh and Balochistan, including main cities like Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Dadu, Ziarat, Barkhan, Loralai, Kohlu, Quetta, Kalat, Khuzdar, Lasbela, Naseerabad and Sibi, monsoon rainfall has been predicted from July 1 to July 5.

The Met Office has also issued an alert of urban flooding between July 2 to July 5 in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Karachi and Hyderabad. On the other hand, an alert for landsliding and flash flooding has been issued in mountains and nullahs of Kashmir, KP, GB and Balochistan.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted that following moist currents from Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal, monsoon rains are expected in the country from tomorrow. Windstorms, rains and thundershowers have been predicted along with isolated heavy falls during the period.
