Finance Minister Miftah Ismail has criticised the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership following the leakage of a voice clip in which former finance minister Shaukat Tarin allegedly asked Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s finance ministers to withdraw from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) deal.

In a press conference on Monday, Miftah said that at the time Pakistan was facing floods, the country had hope from the IMF.

Referring to KP’s move to withdraw from the deal, Miftah said that Shaukat Tarin was the architect behind PTI’s move and that Imran Khan was so power hungry, he would do anything to get back [at the incumbent government].

He questioned that should Pakistan be renamed Bani Gala.

While criticising the KP finance minister, Miftah said that he [Jhagra] had told him that he had not sent the letter.

Miftah said that the government had taken tough steps to save the country from default.

He further said that PTI had crossed all lines this time.

An alleged telephonic conversation, leaked on Monday, between former finance minister Shaukat Tarin, incumbent Punjab Finance Minister Mohsin Leghari and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Finance Minister Taimoor Jhagra, has revealed Tarin as advising both provincial finance ministers to withdraw from the deal with International Monetary Fund (IMF).
