Minute Mirror chairman Mian Sajjad meets Nawaz in London

Chairman of the Minute Mirror group, Mian Sajjad, called on Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) Quaid and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif at his London residence on Monday.

Mr Sajjad, philanthropist and social worker, and also the father of Minute Mirror editor-in-chief and CEO Ali Sajjad, inquired about the health of Mr Sharif and discussed with him the performance of the coalition government. Mr Sharif appreciated Mr Sajjad’s suggestions to improve the performance of the government and said the media’s role to highlight governmental affairs was very vital for accountability. On the occasion, former finance minister Ishaq Dar and PML-N UK president Zubair Gull were also present.

Mian Sajjad suggested the former prime minister plan his return to Pakistan after his recovery and play his role in the politics and the progress of Pakistan. Mr Sharif said he missed Pakistan and the people of Pakistan, and he was worried about the economic mess in the country. He said the steps like increasing the prices of petroleum products and power and gas rates were very troubling but there was no other way to put the country on the right track. He said his previous tenure of 2013-2017 was the most relief-filled time for the people of Pakistan when the inflation was at its lowest.

This started a discussion on the Dar economy. Mr Sajjad and Mr Sharif both praised Mr Dar for his economic wisdom. Mr Sajjad said Mr Dar should return to the country to look after the economy. Mr Sharif said his treatment was ongoing, and once he was recovered and doctors allowed him, he would take a flight to Pakistan.
