Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has formally signed the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran in his role as mediator, marking a significant diplomatic milestone for Pakistan in efforts to ease tensions in the Middle East.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, the memorandum had already been signed by US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian before being endorsed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The agreement, aimed at ending hostilities and reopening the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, has officially entered into force. The memorandum lays the groundwork for further negotiations between Washington and Tehran on broader political, economic, and security issues.
