More PAS, PSP officers to be surrendered from Punjab

The federal government also transferred Inspector General Sindh Mushtaq Ahmed Mahar directing him to report to Establishment Division

In a belated development, it was announced the Punjab government will have to surrender as many as 13 Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) and eight Police Service of Pakistan senior officers to Islamabad.

Services of the following Pakistan Administrative Service officers and PSPs are no more required by the government of Punjab, said a notification of the Services and General Administration Department. The S&GAD has written a letter to the secretary Establishment Division Islamabad on the subject matter with the list of officers whose services are no more needed by the provincial government.

The federal government has also transferred Provincial Police Officer (IG) Sindh Mushtaq Ahmed Mahar and he was directed to report to Establishment Division for further orders.

The officers include chairman of Punjab Information Technology Board Asif Bilal Lodhi, Director General Archaeology Osman Ali Khan, Chairman Punjab Cooperatives Board for liquidation Tariq Mehmood Javed, Chief of Section Planning and Development Board Asia Gul.

Director General Directorate of Population Welfare Punjab Ayisha Hameed, Director General Directorate of Social Welfare, Secretary Local Government Department South Punjab Amir Aqiq Khan, Commissioner Punjab Employees Social Security Institute Dr. Bilal Haider were also included.

Director General PHA Lahore Zeeshan Javed, Deputy Secretary Primary and Secondary Health-care Department Syda Ramalla Ali, Deputy Secretary Finance Department Kanwal Batool, Deputy Secretary Literacy Department Noorish Imran, Director Child Protection and Welfare Bureau Lahore Rabia Riasat were also told to report to the Establishment Division.

Moreover, the Punjab government has also requested the Secretary Establishment Division to withdraw the services of police officers. The senior officers whose services will be surrendered include grade 20 officers. Their names are Ahmed Jamal-ur-Rahman, Shariq Jamal, Sarfaraz Ahmed Faalki, Sher Akbar, Naeem Ahmad Sheikh, Iqbal Dara Dayo, Muneer Ahmad Sheikh and Amin Bukhari.

A senior officer of the Services and General Administration Department on anonymity said that it is a common practice whenever a government changes, it transfers officers on a massive scale. Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz has also prepared lists of officers who had a close liaison with the previous Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government and Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar. The same had been done by Usman Buzdar in 2018.

It is to be recalled that there is a dispute between the Sindh government and the federal government on the transfer and posting of officers. The same case is subjudice in the apex court as well.
