MPAs will never vote for Elahi if their conscience is alive, says Sanaullah

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has said that members of the Punjab Assembly would never vote for Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid leader Parvez Elahi if their “conscience was alive”.

In a press conference on Thursday, Sanaullah said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) did not deem Elahi to be deserving of the position of chief executive of the province.

In reference to Elahi’s comments about PML-N threats of making members disappear, Sanaullah stated that lawmakers not showing up would be because of the PML-Q leader’s incompetence, adding that this was the same person who Imran Khan once called a dacoit.

Sanaullah also claimed that MPAs were discussing the matter and it was possible that not five but 50 members would vote against him or stay away based on their political awareness.

The interior minister also rejected PTI’s claims that his party was buying lawmakers, adding that they were never, and never would be, involved in such politics.

Sanaullah also said that had the Supreme Court summoned him in response to Elahi’s petition regarding ‘disappearing of lawmakers’, he would have told the judges that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf was a party of liars.

Sanaullah also spoke about Imran Khan’s criticism of the chief election commissioner, deeming it unacceptable.

The interior minister said that Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja played an “exemplary role” during the elections and that no one had a problem with the polls except Imran Khan.
