MQM-P coordination committee confirms pact with opposition

Details regarding agreement to be revealed in press conference today

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan’s (MQM-P) coordination committee proclaimed on Wednesday that it had struck an agreement between the party and the opposition on the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan.

MQM-P leader Nasreen Jalil confirmed the news, as she spoke to media outside the party’s markaz in Karachi’s Bahadurabad. She said that further details regarding the agreement would be revealed at a press conference.

Meanwhile, two federal ministers from Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan, Farogh Naseem and Aminul Haque, have submitted their resignations to the prime minister.

Farogh Naseem, who was serving as a federal minister on law and justice, and Aminul Haque, who was serving as a federal minister on information technology and telecommunication, gave their resignations to the PM for approval.

Early Wednesday morning, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that the united opposition and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement have reached an agreement. In a tweet, Bilawal stated that the MQM and PPP’s Central Executive Committee would ratify the agreement. He added that the official announcement with the media would be made today.
