NA Speaker forms committee for probe of Najam Saqib’s leaked audio

A special committee has been established by National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf to look into the audio leak of Najam Saqib, the son of former Pakistani Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar.

Muhammad Aslam Bhootani has been chosen to serve as the committee’s chairman, and the National Assembly Secretariat has officially announced the committee.

According to the circular, a 10-member committee has been formed with Muhammad Aslam Bhootani as the chairman. Shahida Akhtar Ali, Muhammad Abu Bakr, Muhammad Barjees Tahir, Sheikh Rohale Asghar, Syed Hussain Tariq, Naz Baloch, Khalid Hussain Magsi, Wajiha Qamar and Muhammad Afzal Khan Dhandla are also part of the committee.

The committee will have the ability to enlist the aid of any investigative agency in connection with its investigation and inquiry, and after performing its thorough investigation, it will be able to present a report to the National Assembly.

On April 29 of last month, Abuzar, who was given a ticket from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to run in Punjab Assembly constituency 137, was overheard speaking to Najam Saqib. Yesterday, a motion calling for an investigation of this matter was approved by a majority vote in the National Assembly.

Shahida Akhtar Ali has filed a petition calling for an investigation into the purported recording of former chief justice Mian Saqib Nisar’s son.

According to the text of the motion, the audio of Najam Saqib has come to light, a forensic investigation should be conducted into the alleged audio issue, a special parliamentary committee should be formed to investigate the audio leak.
