National Health Organization denies rumors regarding new COVID variant in Pakistan

The National Institutes of Health has denied the presence of a new variant of Corona XBB in Pakistan.

According to the NIH spokesman, the XBB variant reported in some areas is OmiChron.

He also stated that so far, 29 cases of the OmiChrone variant had been reported in the country.

Earlier the news was coming that a new variant of Corona XXB had been found in Pakistan.

NIH spokesman further said that this is not the BF7 variant of Corona which is being reported in neighbouring countries, no case of the BF7 variant had been reported in the country.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed satisfaction that the COVID-19 situation was currently under control.

On Tuesday he instructed the concerned authorities to ensure that children between the ages of 5 and 12 were immunized immediately.

The meeting to review the COVID-19 situation in the nation was presided over by the prime minister, who gave the staff instructions to further enhance border and airport screening.

PM Shehbaz also said that it was encouraging to note that no COVID-related deaths were reported from across the country in the past 15 weeks.
