The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership is actively preparing for the much-anticipated return of their party’s leader and former Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif, to the country next month.
After nearly four years in self-imposed exile in London, citing medical treatment, Nawaz Sharif is set to come back to his homeland.
Currently, a delegation of prominent PML-N leaders, including President Shehbaz Sharif, Ishaq Dar, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Former Governor Sindh Muhammad Zubair, Malik Ahmad Khan, Atta Tarar, and Abid Sher Ali, is in London to make the necessary arrangements.
One of the key points on their agenda is ensuring that Nawaz Sharif receives protective bail before his arrival, preventing any potential arrest and imprisonment.
To address the legal aspects of his return, the party has summoned its legal team, which includes former Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar and other senior members. It’s worth noting that Nawaz Sharif already secured a guarantee for bail from the Punjab government ahead of his return.
In preparation for his homecoming, PML-N leaders are mobilizing party workers to provide a warm welcome to Nawaz Sharif, with hopes that one million people will be present to greet their leader.
To maximize media coverage and facilitate a large gathering of supporters at the airport, it has been suggested that Nawaz Sharif should return via a private airline instead of a chartered plane.
The responsibility of organizing the welcome reception has been entrusted to senior party leader Rana Sanaullah, while Maryam Nawaz will oversee the party’s mobilization efforts.
Nawaz Sharif has also called upon party leaders abroad, including those in London, to return to Pakistan within a week and provide daily reports on party mobilization.
The party is gearing up for Nawaz Sharif’s address to officials in Punjab via video link, where PML-N ticket holders and women politicians will be assigned specific tasks in preparation for his return.
