Nazim Jokhio killing: SHC extends PPP MNA Jam Abdul Karim’s interim bail

Karim’s lawyer argues the final charge sheet had not been filed before any court

The Sindh High Court on Thursday extended the interim pre-arrest bail given to Pakistan People’s Party Member of National Assembly Jam Abdul Karim in the Nazim Jokhio murder case till April 11.

A single judge bench led by Justice Omar Sial ordered Karim to deposit a surety bond worth Rs100,000.

The lawyer for the PPP MNA argued that the case’s final charge sheet had not been filed before any court. He said that it was still being scrutinized at the prosecutor general’s office.

Previously on March 25, a division bench of SHC had given a 10-day protective bail to Karim. The PPP lawmaker had moved the SHC via his attorney seeking a solution to appearing before the trial court. His lawyer argued that he was concerned that the MNA would be arrested when he returned to the country and sought protection in this regard.

Young Nazim Jokhio was found murdered at the Malir farmhouse belonging to PPP MPA Jam Awais in November last year. The MPA along with his brother MNA Jam Karim and others had been booked for purportedly torturing Nazim to death.

Earlier on Tuesday, the widow of victim Jokhio pardoned all the suspects, including Jam Awais and Jam Karim, saying that she had been left all alone by her people. She stated that she had taken the decision to pardon for the safety of her children.
