No gas, no meal

Due to the extreme cold wave that swept the country, gas pressure has dropped and consumer have problems escalated, resulting in higher usage of LPG and firewood. One or two hours of gas delivery every 24 hours has been the norm, and gas supply has virtually stopped in some regions, causing users emotional anguish. According to a spokeswoman for Sui Northern Gas Company, there is no shortage of gas during dinner preparation hours. Women encounter challenges in the kitchen. Every year, management states that gas supply will be guaranteed during cooking hours, but despite this, gas is not supplied to users, and they face load shedding. Expensive LPG and firewood are also out of reach for the general populace, while the cylinder mafia sells cylinders at inflated prices. Aside from the ever-increasing inflation, the people have also been denied of basic necessities, indicating the state’s failure. Gas and electricity are vital human needs, and their scarcity should be the government’s top priority. To address the energy crisis and give inexpensive gas and power to the people, the government should promptly strike into agreements with friendly countries delivering cheap electricity and gas.
