Noor Alam Khan elected PAC chairman unopposed

Disgruntled member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Noor Alam Khan has been elected chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) unopposed.

Khan had been nominated by Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, and the nomination was approved by the rest of the members. The post of PAC chairman was vacant due to the resignation of Rana Tanveer Hussain.

On the occasion, Noor Alam Khan was congratulated by PAC members on his election as chairman. Talking to the media, the newly elected PAC chairman said that merit would be the criterion for everything and no recommendation would be accepted.

He further said everyone would be held accountable, and that no one would be supported or facilitated. Noor Alam Khan said he had no personal issues with anyone but whoever happens to be the NAB chairman, he has to come to PAC. He vowed to present himself for accountability as well. Commenting on the sit-in, he said that Pakistan’s economy would be further hurt by sit-ins, adding that such protests did not benefit the country in any way.
