NSC to approve economy and national security guidelines

The national security committee (NSC) will meet today to approve new economy and national security guidelines to tackle the increase in terror incidents in different parts of the country.

As per media reports, the meeting will take decisive action against terrorists and crippling the economy.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will chair the meeting whereas many senior civil and military officials are expected to attend the meeting.

The high-level body committed to abolishing terrorism on Friday but decided to postpone the discussion until Monday so that choices could be made in light of the recommendations.

On Friday, the NSC conference determined to increase the pressure on militancy by taking ruthless preventive and countermeasures to neutralize the risks now posed to the nation in any form.

Meanwhile, PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry claimed that KP Chief Minister Mahmood Khan is not invited to the NSC meeting.

He also claimed that the Taliban administration only trust former PM Imran Khan.

The meeting came after the law and order situation in Pakistan worsened as terrorist militants like TTP, Islamic State group, Gul Bahadur group, and insurgencies in Balochistan stepped up their violent activities.

Recent raising alarms in the corridors of power, the incident at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police’s Counter-Terrorism Department interrogation centre in Bannu, and the attempted suicide bombing in Islamabad caused concerns regarding the safety of their citizens.
