OGRA declines reports of limited diesel stocks

Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) declining the reports about limited stocks of high speed diesel has said that sufficient stocks have been available in the country.

OGRA spokesperson has said in a statement that the reports on certain sections of press about limited stocks of diesel were incorrect.

Earlier a letter written by Secretary General of Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC) Syed Nasir Abbas Zaidi to the OGRA Chairman had circulated in different media reports. The letter had stated, “product availability challenges in various pockets of the country in days to come due to inadequate imports and limited local availability”. It had also said that due to limited availability in the international market it might be difficult to import diesel in November.

The letter, dated November 3, had also stated that there was deficit of import plan and that should be finalized by importers. It had also said that a few oil marketing companies (OMCs) were much higher than demand and the OMCs continuously had low stocks.

According to the letter it was also forecasted that they were foreseeing product availability challenges based upon ongoing sales trend and number of days of cover that was currently being maintained.
