OIC Secretary General to visit Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Dec 10

Foreign Office said on Thursday that Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha will lead a five-member delegation to visit Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir on December 10-12.

According to a statement from the foreign office, this will be his first trip outside of the United States since taking office in November 2021, and it is being hosted by Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto.

The secretary-general will also meet with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during his visit.

Additionally, the OIC Secretary General will meet with the Ministers of Commerce, Information Technology, and the Minister of Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan Affairs.

The OIC Secretary General and the Foreign Minister will talk about a variety of topics, including the Jammu and Kashmir conflict, Islamophobia, and the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan, according to the Foreign Office.

“It will also be an opportunity to exchange views on vital issues of economic, social, and technological cooperation among OIC member countries.”

It further said that Pakistan as an OIC founding member will keep working to advance Islamic unity, solidarity, and communication within the organization.
