Saudi FM discusses regional security, Afghan situation, defence relations in meeting with COAS Gen Bajwa

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa and discussed matters of mutual interest, the military’s media wing on Sunday.

The two officials discussed regional security, the current situation in Afghanistan and bilateral defence relations, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

The COAS thanked the Saudi leadership for convening the 17th Extraordinary Session of OIC’s Council of Foreign Ministers in Islamabad.

The extraordinary session of OIC is extremely important to channelise international efforts and save Afghanistan from looming security and humanitarian crises, the ISPR quoted Gen Qamar as saying.

“Pakistan values its historical and brotherly relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and acknowledges its unique place in the Islamic world,” reiterated the army chief.

Gen Bajwa also emphasised that peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute is essential for stability in South Asia.

He reiterated that Pakistan wants cordial ties with all its neighbours in pursuit of regional peace and prosperity.

The Saudi FM appreciated Pakistan’s role in the Afghan situation, special efforts for border management, role in regional stability and pledged to play his part for further improvement in diplomatic cooperation with Pakistan at all levels.
