Moonis Elahi, the son of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President and former chief minister Punjab Parvez Elahi has suggested that reconciliation with the PTI Chairman Imran Khan is the only way Pakistan can emerge from its current political and economic upheaval.

He stated this during a casual conversation with London-based journalists. Shehbaz Sharif had the chance to serve the people but he didn’t do so, Moonis said.

In response to a question, Moonis Elahi said that the outgoing government leaders Shehbaz Sharif and Ishaq Dar were still effective in achieving their goals. He noted that both made a significant dent in the economy.

Election delays will further harm the already weak economy of the nation, he continued.

Elahi claimed that excessive power costs had made life difficult for the majority of people and urged the government to help them.

It should be recalled that a district court in Lahore had already declared Moonis Elahi as a proclaimed absconder for his persistent absence from the money laundering case.

Fraud, money laundering, and corruption are among alleged offences in the case against Parvez and Moonis. The father-son duo is accused of hiding billions of rupees in five Panama-based firms, and Parvez Elahi is accused of utilizing obvious money-laundering methods to acquire these businesses.
