Oscar Committee invites Pakistani filmmakers to submit films for 95th Academy Awards

Pakistani filmmakers have been invited to submit their works for Oscar Committee’s consideration by the Pakistani Academy Selection Committee.

On Wednesday, according to a press release, Pakistani filmmakers must submit their movies by September 2, 2022, 5:00 pm local time, for consideration in the 95th Academy Awards International Feature Film Award category.

The Pakistani Academy Selection Committee has previously submitted ‘Zinda Bhaag’, ‘Dukhtar’, ‘MOOR’, ‘Mah-e-Mir’, ‘Saawan’, ‘Cake’, ‘Lal Kabootar’, and ‘Zindagi Tamasha’ to represent the best of Pakistani cinema for award consideration in the International Feature Film category.

The Oscar Committee this year is headed by two-time Academy Award and Emmy-winning filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy

The committee will select one movie to represent Pakistan’s official entry for the International Feature Film Award.

A feature-length motion picture (over 40 minutes) that was made outside of the United States of America and its territories and included a conversation track that was predominately (more than 50%) in a language other than English is referred to as an international film.

Feature films that are animated and documentaries are also accepted.

On September 30, 2022, the Pakistani Academy Selection Committee will make its nominations for award consideration.
