Outstanding centuries from Indian batsmen Virat Kohli and KL Rahul have propelled their team to set a formidable 357-run target for Pakistan in the Super 4 clash of the ongoing Asia Cup 2023, which took place on Monday.

The match was affected by rain on the first day at Colombo’s R. Premadasa Stadium and resumed on the reserve day from where it left off on Sunday, without losing any overs.

The highly anticipated Pakistan-India showdown resumed on Monday following a delay due to a wet outfield caused by intermittent morning rain and overcast skies with dark clouds. Strong winds were also a feature in Colombo.

India quickly took control of the proceedings as soon as the players stepped onto the field. They concluded their innings at 356-2 within their allotted 50 overs, with Pakistan failing to claim a wicket on the reserve day.

Kohli remained unbeaten with an impressive 122 runs off 94 balls, including nine fours and three sixes.

Meanwhile, Rahul’s unbeaten score was 111 runs from 106 balls, featuring 14 boundaries.

It’s worth noting that Pakistan won the toss and chose to bowl first in the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 match.

India had reached a score of 147-2 in 24.1 overs when heavy rain halted play. After a nearly four-hour wait, the umpires decided to postpone the remainder of the game to the following day.

Pakistan maintained the same playing XI for this highly anticipated clash. However, key fast bowler Haris Rauf was ruled out of the match as a precautionary measure due to an injury.
