In the Pakistan-India One-Day thriller, Pakistani pacers bowled out the Indian batting lineup for 266 in the 49th in their Asia Cup 2023 match at the Pallakelle Stadium in Sri Lanka. Pakistan now has a target of 267. It’s worth noting that Pakistan began its Asia Cup 2023 campaign impressively with a dominant 238-run victory over Nepal earlier in the week. Meanwhile, this match marked India’s first appearance in the tournament.

Rohit Sharma, the Indian captain, won the toss and chose to bat, acknowledging the weather conditions, saying, “There is a bit of weather around, but we cannot think about it too much.” He emphasized the need to embrace the challenge and situation, highlighting the team’s preparation in Bangalore.

On the other hand, Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, expressed a similar desire to bat first, mentioning their familiarity with the playing conditions in the region due to recent matches.

In head-to-head statistics, India held an advantage over Pakistan with seven wins in 13 Asia Cup (ODI) matches, while Pakistan had five wins, and one match ended without a result. Pakistan had faced a string of defeats against India in the Asia Cup, with their last win dating back to Mirpur in 2014.

As India has set a target of 267 for the boys in green, it is safe to say that it is a doable total since India was under siege by Pakistan’s pace attack led by Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah. It is now up to skipper Babar Azam and his batters to take it home.

Pakistan has a strong batting lineup. Roads are deserted across Pakistan as people are watching a ball-to-ball match.
