Pakistan raises concern after India releases water in already flooded rivers

Pakistan expressed concerns after India released water in already flooded rivers after being hit by the ongoing heavy monsoon rains.

The Foreign Office (FO) has said that the practice in the circumstances has been a recurrent problem. The spokesperson of the foreign office of Pakistan Asim Iftikhar has said in a statement that it must be checked with the Indus Water Commissioner whether the decision of releasing water was shared by the Indian side timely or not.

The spokesperson also said that a lot of focus and attention has been paid towards the matter. He told that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had himself given directions for all possible assistance.

Speaking about the deteriorating health of Kashmiri leader Yasin Malik he said that Pakistan has been deeply concerned over the issue. He added that the judicial persecution has been rejected and immediate release has been demanded.

Talking about the visit of the Pakistani Ulema to Kabul, the spokesperson of the foreign office said that the Ulema of both sides have had long-lasting relations because of shared history, religion, cultures, geography and people-to-people contacts.

Iftikhar further said that the delegation of Pakistani Ulema led by Allama Taqi Usmani and including many leading scholars during the visit to Afghanistan held meetings with the Afghan interim prime minister, cabinet members and leading Ulema from Afghanistan. He further added that during the meetings strengthening peace and stability as well as good relations between the two countries were discussed by the two sides.
