Pakistan rejects Indian remarks about CPEC, calls them ‘baseless and misguided’

Pakistan has rejected the remarks of the official spokesperson of Indian Ministry of External Affairs about China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

In a statement, the spokesperson of the Foreign Office called the Indian remarks “baseless and misguided”, which were an effort to politicize the project. The spokesperson said that CPEC was a transformational project that would bring stability, mutual cooperation and shared development in the region.

The spokesperson said that the CPEC had helped Pakistan overcome energy and infrastructural bottlenecks. The agenda was hegemonic that showed India’s insecurity that held back South Asia’s socioeconomic development, the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson rejected India’s claim that CPEC impinged on sovereignty and territorial integrity, and pointed the over 70 years of Indian illegal occupation over the state of Jammu and Kashmir said. He said that India’s efforts for misleading the international community about Jammu and Kashmir’s status and hiding its atrocities against the people of Kashmir would never succeed.

The FO spokesperson also said that the solution of Jammu and Kashmir dispute was in the United Nation’s resolution that had given the right of self-determination to the people of Kashmiri people.
