Pakistan ship delivers goods to earth-quake hit Syria, Turkiye

Pakistan Navy ship Nasr arrived on Monday in the Turkish port of Mersin on a global Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Relief (HADR) mission.

PNS Nasr which finished its rescue mission in Syria before arriving at Mersin will deliver aid supplies weighing about 200 tonnes to Turkish authorities for distribution to earthquake victims.

Last month, a devastating earthquake struck Syria and Turkey, killing thousands of people.

On March 23, the PNS Moawin planned to bring a second supply of aid to Mersin.

PNS Nasr was welcomed by the governor of Mersin, officials, and the Pakistani ambassador to Turkey upon arrival at the Turkish port.

The mission commander offered his sympathies and full support in the event of necessity during discussions with personnel on board PNS Nasr on behalf of Pakistan’s people and Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Mohammad Amjad Khan Niazi.

Earlier, during its stay in Syria’s Lattakia port from March 13 to 19, the ship discharged a sizeable amount of humanitarian supplies, including winterised camps, blankets, warm clothing, rations, medicines, and generators.
