Pakistani film ‘Javed Iqbal’ nominated in two categories at UK Asian Film Festival

Director Ali Sajjad Shah, popularly known as Abu Aleeha, took to Facebook on May 13 to announce that his film ‘Javed Iqbal: The Untold Story of a Serial Killer’ has been nominated in two categories at the UK Asian Film Festival, to which it made as the opening film at the start of this month.

Yasir Hussain, who played the titular character, has been nominated in the category of Best Actor, while Ali Sajjad Shah himself has been nominated in the category of Best Director.

The team excitedly awaits the result, as UK Asian Film Festival seems to be the only platform which, up till now, has warmly welcomed the film and given it its due appreciation. In Pakistan, the film got banned one day before its release to the disappointment of the entire film’s team which had worked extremely hard to turn the gruesome and graphic story of the real-life serial killer into a big-screen experience.
