Pakistani-origin Hamza Yousaf becomes Scotland’s first Muslim minister

Pakistani-origin Hamza Yousaf has become Scotland’s new and first Muslim minister.

As per foreign media reports, he became the Scottish National Party’s leader (SNP). Yousaf, 37, is the first Muslim politician to hold the position of First Minister of Scotland. Moreover, he is the first Muslim political figure to lead a significant political party in Britain.

Hamza Yousaf said that his first objective was to work towards the country’s total independence. “Scotland has long aspired to complete independence. The citizens are calling for freedom,” Youaf addressed the crowd and claimed that the new generation will make it feasible.

After taking the oath, Hamza Yousaf along with his family visited the official residence and offered iftar at The Bewitt HouseBute House, where Hamza’s family also offered prayers.

He also wrote on his Twitter, “My family and I spent our first night in Bute House after today’s parliamentary vote. A special moment leading my family in prayer in Bute House as is customary after breaking fast together.”

Yousaf remarked with passion that his forefathers had never imagined their grandson would lead Scotland. According to Yousaf, the Scottish people were also conveying the message that your race or religion will not stop you from reaching the top.
