Pakistan’s Arooj Aftab to perform at Grammy Awards

A Grammy Award winner from Pakistan Arooj Aftab will return to the Grammys this year as both a nominee and a performer. The singer of Mohabbat announced on Friday that she will take the stage at the Grammy Awards opening ceremony.

She posted information on her performance in a post. “I really cannot wait to play my Grammy-nominated tune Udhero Na featuring Anoushka Shankar with her live performance at the Grammys.”

She urged her fans to watch the live show, which was scheduled for February 5 at 12:30 pm Pakistan time. The Recording Academy’s website and official YouTube channel will also stream the event live.

Aftab is nominated for a Grammy in the category of “Best Global Music Performance For her song Udhero Na.”

Aftab’s Udhero Na will compete for the Best Global Music Performance Award along with Matt B and Eddy Kenzo’s Gimme Love, Burna Boy’s Last Last, Rocky Dawuni, Blvk H3ro’s Neva Bow Down, and Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini, Nomcebo Zikode’s Bayethe.

Randy Rainbow, a current Grammy nominee will co-host the annual event, which will announce the majority of this year’s 91 Grammy Awards category winners.

A performance by the Blind Boys of Alabama, La Marisoul from La Santa Cecilia, and other unannounced artists will serve as the opening act.

Current nominees Madison Cunningham, Samara Joy, Anoushka Shankar, and Carlos Vives are among the performers who will take the stage.
