Pakistan’s exports to US increase 43pc to $4,410m

Pakistan’s exports of goods and services to United States (US) increased by 43.23 percent during the first eight months of fiscal year (2021-22) as compared to the exports of corresponding period of last year. The overall exports to USA were recorded as US $ 4410.593 million during July-February (2021-22) against exports of US $ 3079.375 million during July-February (2020-21), showing growth of 43.23 percent, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) data revealed. Meanwhile on year-to-year basis, exports to USA during February 2022 also increased by 36.22 percent from US $402.167 million to US $547.856 million.

Similarly on month-on-month basis, exports to USA rose by 1.65 percent during February 2022 in comparison with exports of US $ 538.949 million in January 2022, SBP data said. Overall Pakistan’s exports to other countries witnessed an increase of 28.11 percent in eight months, from US $16.092 billion to US $ 20.616 billion. On the other hand, the imports from USA during the period under review were recorded as US $1949.409 million against US $1493.532 million last year, showing growth of 32.52 percent in eight months of this year.

Meanwhile, year-to-year basis, imports from USA during February 2022 also increased by 9.99 percent from US $262.986 million last year to US $289.273 million. On month-on-month basis, the import from USA rose by 13.58 percent during February 2022 as compared to the import of US $254.681 million in January 2022, SBP data said. The overall imports into the country increased by 49.11 percent, from US $32.123 billion to US $47.901 billion.
