Pakistan’s future ‘bleak’ under Imran Khan: Shehbaz

Leading opposition party PML-N announces nationwide protests against inflation under PTI govt

Opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif has lamented over what he says is a ‘bleak future’ for Pakistan under the current Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader said that Prime Minister Imran Khan had abandoned the people of Pakistan like no leader before. Sharif added that citizens were scrambling to survive in the wake of a non-existent government, while PM Khan continued to deliver ‘moral sermons’.

The opposition in recent days has heightened its criticism of the current regime. On Monday, PML-N and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) followers protested outside the Karachi Press Club against the recent petrol price hike and demanded the government reverse the decision to raise prices. They also raised their voices against inflation in general.

In a meeting of PML-N leaders on Wednesday, Sharif also announced a protest against inflation in Rawalpindi the same day. The party also finalized a schedule of nationwide rallies against skyrocketing prices under PTI, which would start on Thursday.
