Chief Minister Parvez Elahi is outraged by Imran Khan’s accusation against former army chief retired General Qamar Javed Bajwa, claiming that he has clearly stated that if mud is thrown at him (the retired general) again in the future, he and his party will oppose such remarks. By showing his loyalty to the retired general, Chaudhry Parvez Elahi in fact dragged Gen Bajwa into an unnecessary controversy and made his claim of being “neutral” very controversial. Moreover, Chaudhry Parvez Elahi made some very well-known “revelations” in an interview with a TV channel, which muddies both Imran Khan and the retired general. If his claims are to be believed, there is no moral justification for PML-Q’s alliance with PTI, but ethics in politics are rarely seen as worthy of belief. He gave hints regarding the political ethics of Imran Khan and Nawaz Sharif which show that they have defected from the PTI but still will not support the PML-N.
The game for either saving the assemblies or replacing Elahi is ongoing. PPP leader Asif Zardari is active in getting the CM slot for his party man and in this regard, he has contacted political figures to manipulate in favour of his candidate. According to the sources, the important political personalities from South Punjab have been given the task of tunneling in the PTI. According to PPP sources, Chaudhry Shujaat backed the PPP. In case of consensus, there is a possibility that the opposition will give the chief ministership to the PPP, while the speaker and deputy speaker candidates will be from the PML-N. One can only watch and wait for the unfolding dramas.
